Others remain with co-ethnics for a variety of reasons- security, sense of home and common beliefs, religion, etc. Ethnicity amplifies certain elements of culture as a badge of we-ness what defines us and should be retained. A group constructed identity using one or more of its cultural attributes that connects group members through a sense of what is unique and therefore distinguishes us from them. Shared traits can be ideology (religion), cultural history, cultural traditions, food, music, etc. Ethnicity is also characterized by a tie to homeland. often an intention to return there. Facial point of various kinds of social interaction. Also provides a recreational outlet, business success, and a political power base. Can give rise to suspicion, friction, distrust, clannishness, and even violence. The study of ethnic geography is the study of spatial and ecological aspects of ethnicity.
