Document Summary

Pacinian corpuscle, meissner"s corpuscle, hair follicle receptor. Crease to respond when the stimulus stays constant. Keep reporting a constant stimulus for a long time. Detect temperature at the nerve ending and surrounding tissue. Respond to temperatures from 30-43 degrees celsius. Respond to temperatures in the range 35-20 degrees celsius. Free nerve endings that respond to noxious stimuli. Mechanical intense mechanical stimulus (e. g, finger getting caught in door) Thermal heat greater than 45 degrees celsius. Polymodal respond to a variety of stimuli. Topographically organized as well as columnar organization. The vertical columns are organized according to each sensory modality. Eg. , the thumb, the column is associated with pressure, temperature, etc. Crosses over at the midline; right side of body is conveyed to left and vice versa. Sensation produced by tissue-damaging, or potential tissue-damaging, stimulus. Pain elicits autonomic response (e. g. , increased blood pressure, sweating) Pain elicits emotional responses (e. g. , fear, anxiety)
