We have mainly discussed mendel concepts of heritable traits. Proteins do everything we all know that there are two forms of genetic molecules/info. Dna is storage molecule for all of the info needed to be you. Info for being a skin cell, liver cell, lung cell, neuron, etc. Info for how to build these proteins is in every single cell. Skin cell only makes proteins that skin cell genes encode; liver cell only makes liver cell proteins. This is due to regulation of genes this is how we can identical genomes in each cell but different protein expressions. Rna is the working copy of the genetic information. Heres how i think about it : the genome is the encyclopedia of life.
