Personal construct: a person"s own unique predictions and interpretations of the world around them (each person is their own mini-scientist) Existentialists call these personal constructs world designs construct: dichotomously framed interpretation. Constructs are form because people recognize patterns and regularities in their lives. The constructs help a person to live the life that they want to live. Example of 2 people with 2 different constructs: Lilly: likes to tease people to make friends in new social situations. Lori: gets offended when this new person she hasn"t met teases her because one of her enemies teases her. Superordinate constructs: have a large range of convenience that can be applied to many situations example: construct of loyalty. Subordinate constructs: have a small range of convenience that can"t be applied to many situations example: a loyal friend.
