Document Summary
Conflicts are differences in goals, needs, and experiences. An expressed struggle: displeasure expressed in remark or nonverbal behavior. It ranges from mild differences to outright fight. Between at least two interdependent people: what one person does affect the other. Incompatible goals, scarce resource, and interference: for example two people want the same thing, but can"t have it; or what person wants is the opposite of what other person wants. Achieving a goal: most problems boil down to something you want more of or less of. Most relational disagreements have a source, a beginning, middle, an end, and an aftermath. Disagreements arise when we are aware of differences that may arise from role expectations, perceptions, goals, or resources. In interpersonal relationship, many conflicts is smoldering below the surface. One of you becomes aware that the differences in the relationship are increasingly problematic. For example you begin to talk to yourself that something went wrong and creating frustration.
