Executive branch: president and vice president and hundreds of bureaucratic agencies. Judicial branch: supreme court of the united states and many lower federal courts. Federalism means authority is partly divided and partly shared between the federal government and the 50 states governments. The federal government has exclusive authority throughout the us.
