Goal theory- smart goal is more effective; specific, challenging goals are more effective. Mission statement- lay out overarching goal and why team exists. Learning goal ( let"s learn how to do something ) Pooled- group members work independently and then combine their work (i. e. team usa, sales team) Sequential- division of labor (i. e. relay races; drafting a group paper) Reciprocal- every member is dependent on others at all levels (i. e. writing a group paper on google docs) Size- make the minimum team size to avoid diffusion of responsibility. Team structure- how clearly the group"s processes are articulated by team leaders and the organization and the extent to which they"re closely adhered to by team members. Norms are shared expectations that guide behavior in groups. If violated, members first try to persuade the person to change.
