More than just a physical sense, psychological engagement with another person. Attending: the extent to which you are there for a person when they are speaking. Following: how you follow up to what a person says to you. Do not always work well because people are reluctant to spell out their true feelings. Listen for feeling in conversation, not just words assertiveness skills. The point is to produce change without invading the other person"s space. No power or coercion involved; the focus is on the result conflict prevention and control. To get win/win outcomes, you have to focus on each party"s needs listening.
