Functionalism and marxism are macrosociology because of their study of social institutions, political and economic systems, industrialization and globalization. Sociological perspective makes it easier for us to see the world as other people see it. Sociological minded people can also use their insight and scientific training to assess the effectiveness of social programs, policies, and laws, and they can contribute to the development of better ones. Sociologists apply their knowledge and scientific training in professions ranging from social work to medicine to businesses. Ex. age, gender, height, weight, eye color, socioeconomic status etc. Independent: the variable that produces an effect on another variable; variable selected and often manipulated by researcher to determine its effect on another variable.
