17 views3 pages

Document Summary

Review of genetics: genes, alleles, genotype, aa, aa, aa, etc. Descent with modification: similar to ancestors, but are somewhat different and can change with time, darwin, these trait have to be heritable- dealing with reproduction and selection. Natural selection can result in differences between populations: black mice in lava fields and white mice in nearby meadows- Predator-prey interactions- a black mouse in the meadow or a white mouse in the lava fields would be super visible and would probably be eaten. We as humans affect a lot of populations, trying to step away from natural selection: example: trophy hunting- everybody wants the biggest buck or ram. These biggest animals would theoretically sire lots of healthy offspring, so you see the average size of males and their horns are slowly reducing as the larger alpha males are being killed and therefore not reproducing.
