Have been around most of earths existence (3. 5 ba = irst prokaryote) Most abundant organisms on earth (you can pick up a handful of sand and there would be more prokaryotes than all combined humans to have ever existed) They can survive in extreme environments usually because of their simplicity. Condiions in which life developed (early earth) o o. Abioic synthesis of small organic molecules (organic = carbon based molecules and there was lots of carbon then) Packaging in protocells (basic version of cell = membrane droplets that maintain consistent internal environment and chemistry. Self replicaion: carbon based molecules o o o o. Lots of water vapor and chemicals released from volcanic erupions. Lost a lot of hydrogen and water vapor condensed into oceans. Haldane created a reducing environment (electron adding environment)
