Mithridates, the poison king of pontus, got his nickname beause he was so paranoid that somebody was going to try and poison him that he would consume poison and developed an immunity to poison. Marius dies on his way to fight mithridates. Sulla did not finish mithridates completely and instead chose to march on rome again. Sulla gives many colonies citizenship rights but not the samnites. Sulla hated the samnites with an extreme passion and would later commit genocide against this tribe. A triumph is a parade given in celebration of a military conquest. Pompey wanted a triumph for his military exploits in africa, but sulla refuses due to his youth (was merely 28). Pompey was getting incredibly so sulla eventually lets him have the triumph.
