Discrimination - a positive or negative behaviour directed towards a social group and its members. Social group - 3 or more people with common socially meaningful interdependence & goals. E. g. hockey players ( but not people waiting at a bus stop, their behaviour does not affect or depend on anyone else"s) Prejudice - a positive or negative evaluation of a social groups attitudes" and its members. Measured by peoples affect/emotion towards the group. Stereotype - a cognitive representation of the features thought to characterize a social group and its members. Cognitive representation of the traits and characteristics that are attached to a social group. Social categorization - the process of identifying individuals as members of a social group. Often need the social categorization in order for the stereotyping to form. Once you recognise the social category that someone belongs to (e. g. scientist) Expect the individual to possess the features that apply to that category (rational)
