In chapter three of michael sandel"s novel do we own ourselves / libertarianism, he explains that libertarians believe that the government be functioning as minimalist state, and anything else is excessive and violates their sovereignty (sandel 59). Libertarians oppose laws that includes paternalism, moral legislation, the redistribute of wealth. Paternalism laws are there to stop people from harming themselves. Examples would be the making people wear seatbelts or helmets on motorcycle. And that if the action isn"t affecting individual other than themselves; they should be able to do the action. Law that limit morals legislation refers to laws that prohibiting prostitution or prohibiting consenting adults to do what they want to their own body.
