Implications of the big five: traits are orthogonal, or unrelated, can bring order to many research findings, conscientiousness: how organized, careful, thorough, extraversion: outgoing, social, outspoken, dominant, adventurous. Rated more popular, physically attractive, society is designed for extraverts. Extraverts are healthier, live longer lives, more successful relationships: neuroticism: strong negative reactions to stress, trouble coping, psychosomatic symptoms (hypochondriac), general tendency to negative psychopathology. Physical health lower, even perceived as lower. Criminal behavior: agreeableness: compliant, easy to get along with, warm, passive. Healthy, higher life outcomes: openness to experience: flexible, creative, curious, adventurous, seen as open-minded and clever/intellect. Universiality of the big five: when translated to other languages: four or five of the factors appear. Openness to experience, give a little trouble though: when starting with other languages: some overlap but no one to one correspondence.
