How anatomical structures are suited for function. How different parts of the body have integrated functions. Physiology is the study of healthy organisms, we will occasionally look at diseases states (pathophysiology). The chemical level: a molecule in the membrane that encloses a cell. The cellular level: a cell in the stomach lining. The tissue level: layers of tissue in the stomach wall. An organ is a body structure that integrates different tissues and carries out a speci c function. Review 4 types of tissue, secretions (exocrine out of the body, endocrine into the blood stream). 2/3 is intracellular uid (intra means within) 1/3 is extracellular uid (extra means outside) You can apply the terms: extracellular uid or interstitial uid (in the tissues). It means that the inside of out bodies is a relatively stable place, it has a stable internal condition. Because our environment is always changing, our homeostatic mechanisms are always compensating.
