Gene defects in fosb can affect maternal care and cause female mice not to exhibit maternal care. 2 species of voles, pair bonds and paternal care. Prairie voles are monogamous, practice biparental care, strong pairbond, show stress upon separation; montane voles are asocial, promiscuous, no male parental care, no pairbond/separation stress.
