Document Summary

Pull to evaluate another person/thing in a positive/negative way. Usually we think of it in a positive way. Example of negative: compulsion to learn more (hate-watching) despite not liking topic. Proximity: much more likely to become friends with someone next to you. Mere exposure effect: the more often we come in contact, the more we like it. Similarity: find someone similar to you in some ways even if we initially didn"t. Typically share: age, iq, level of attractiveness, education level, attitudes, belief/value set/religion. Women are not attracted to men who smell like members of their family. Doesn"t work if she is using birth control. Equity/exchange: social transaction, putting in effort, worth it, value, etc. Less important as relationships grow and mature. Think of investment building together rather than individual (we rather than i terms) Women and men both seek physical attractiveness. Women seek man that is good provider since women have to birth baby.
