When people are read lists of things, stories, movies, telling life stories. We tend to remember things at the beginning and then at the end but everything in the middle is kind of blurry. Retention of information/items is easier or more difficult due to when it is presented with respect to the other information/items. Primacy effect: the ability to remember information at the beginning more easily but can be removed if there"s a distraction as the information is presented the new information isn"t as new or engaging. Recency effect: the ability to remember information at the end more easily when you"re distracted after you"ve been presented information, echoic information go away. Primacy effect stays with us for a long period of time. The only thing that seems to stay for the longer ride.
