7 views2 pages

Document Summary

Social media networks have features that are similar but regardless to the similarity, there are different capabilities/effects of each social media network. Likes on facebook is different from likes on instagram or twitter. All of these actions are likes, but the result of these likes can be different depending on the social network. Example: on facebook, likes can cause other users who are fiends with the person liking it to show up on their feed. Likes affect hidden algorithms on timelines and show more content from something linked to the people who like it. By growing likes, a page is increasing the likelihood of future exposure. This happens because the algorithm tries to give content to people who will like it most likely. Each different social media network has a different algorithm. Facebook sharing is different from retweeting on twitter. Facebook gives people more options to share content in the network, which has different effects dependent on the option.
