Real societies are a mix, more or less one. Family is all important; the extended family. Family provides security, imposes strong obligations on the family. The needs of family overrides individual needs of the members. Traditional society: the world is divided into us and them. Them are not to be trusted, no obligations to them, outside the family, solidarity is owed to your family, hostility to outsiders. Traditional family; prestige, honour is the currency to traditional society. Your honour is tied to your family. Never demise the honour of your family. You inherit the honour possessed by your family. Through marriage link your family with a family with prestige as high and higher. Marriage are arranged to strengthen the family. Central to marriage the idea of dowry; bride to groom.
