Yet, this is not the case in many developing and developed countries around the world. The legal system is characterized by and reinforces social and economic inequality between groups in society. Social inequality is created when unequal opportunities and rewards exist in society for different social position and economic inequality is existent when differences can be found in the economic well-being of individuals or groups in society.
