Whats the diference b/w muliculturalism and ani-racism *** Muli-cult. advocates for the recogniion and protecion of the cultural rights of speciic ethnic communiies as stated in canada"s muliculturalism act. Muli-cult; does not address the issue of power relaionships b/w groups. Ani-racism: is proacive in that it challenges individual racist behaviors, systemic discriminaion and insituional racism challenges insituional racism. private and public *** diference b/w them: religion & culture, sociological imaginaion, personal problems as public issues. Chrisianity has dominated the social landscape: roman catholicsim, protestant. Definitions of religion diicult to deine religion in an inclusive way with much precision. Durkheim helped shape funcional and substanive deiniions of religion he believed that relgion contributed greatly to social cohesion in society: argued that it difereniated b/w things deemed sacred and profane. Bellah and his colleagues used durkheim"s logic and maintained that civil religion contributes to social cohesion.
