Ivan pavlov was a prominent russian physiologist who did the nobel prize winning research on digestion: his work showed how stimuli in the external world controlled our actions and behaviour. Classical conditioning: unconditioned stimulus: stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without previous conditioning, unconditioned response: is an unlearned reaction to an unconditioned stimulus that occurs without previous conditioning. Sequence of events in classical conditioning: psychic reflect came to be called conditioned reflex, elicited: to draw out back or bring forth. 2: trial: any presentation of a stimuli or pair of stimuli, usually proceeds gradually, but can occur fast. Interested in how many trials are needed to create a conditioned bond. Process of classical conditioning: fear responses that are less severe than phobias are also products of classical conditioning. 3: example: cringe when hearing dentist"s drill because pain has been paired with the sound of the drill, which became a cs eliciting the cringe.
