When writing academic essays, students are expected to always acknowledge ideas that are not their own. Whether they reference their sources in the body of their essays or in their bibliographies, students must follow the rules of one citation style. There are several citation styles that are used in academic works, including the. Chicago style, the apa style, and the mla style. A choice of a particular citation style depends on the academic discipline, and /or students" personal preferences. When producing their essays in the humanities, students are usually required to use the mla style of citation. Because our course belongs to religious studies and humanities, students are required to use the mla style of citation in their essays. Some claim that the true religion of pre-islamic arabs was tribal humanism (watt 57). If the name of the author is already mentioned in student"s text, then only the page number must be placed in parenthetical citation.
