Geography tries to incorporate three types of culture humanities, social science, natural sciences. Quantitative (through measurement we can achieve a degree of neutrality) a. b. c. It is precise and reproducible (it doesn"t matter who is doing it its math) They want it to be independent form human geography. Experiment : people eat more cookies when they were excluded and people ate less cookies when they were included. You will have people who were included who eat more than excluded. You will have messy data but it is not wrong. How we study (nats, huma, social science) is what matters. Social sciences- there is still a common behaviour (predictable) Different types of questions that we must answer but we can"t measure. We are moving from ideas of laws to the idea of meaning.
