A chain of events in cause-effect relationship occulting in time and space. Causal chains: a series of causes that lead to effects which in turn become the cause of further events, and so on. What does the film show that is extraneous to the story? e. g. credits, titles, music. Story is a set of all events in a narrative, both the ones explicitly presented and those the viewer infers. The diagesis is the total world of story action.
