ADMS 4440 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Human Resource Management, Chartered Institute Of Personnel And Development, Professional Certification
Document Summary
The degree of hr professionalism, as perceived by its specialists, has been mixed. In order for hr to be a true profession it has to meet nine dimensions of what constitutes a profession (fanning, 2011). There are some characteristics that demonstrate hr as a profession while others do not. However, hr has not scored highly on everything that defines a profession (claus collison, 2005), which makes hr a profession questionable. Hr practitioners sees hr to have a recognized body of knowledge and skills that add respect to the organization (claus collison, 2005). For example, most hr practitioners have a university degree either in business administration or human resources management and many have professional certification credentials (2005). Hr practitioners have a strong ideology of service. All together, they are concerned with the well-being of employees and financial interested for the good of their organizations (2005).
