Document Summary

Now that i have developed an understanding of what truly defines a profession, i believe that hr is a semi-profession and it has a long way to go before it becomes a true profession. Claus & collison (2005) concluded that hr has a lot of growing up to do in regards to becoming a profession to which i agree. The human resources profession scores highly on many of the nine dimensions of what constitutes a profession but not highly on everything, especially the fact hr. Practitioners do not require a license to practice and being dismissed from the governing body would not prohibit the individual practicing hr. As long as unqualified individuals are identifying themselves as. Hr professionals and are performing hr duties, hr will not become a true profession.
