Work for strangers instead of families (independent people suffered) Urbanization, factories act as magnets to attract people from the country. Social problems: homelessness, crime, due to too many people too fast in cities. French revolution (embodiment of ideals of the demo rev ex/ restricting church role and overthrowing monarchy) Divine right of king = god"s plan, if you were poor, you were meant to be poor. Democratic revolution moved away from this divine right.
