Most famous subject of neurological studies famous for having amnesia. Had profound epilepsy as a young boy. Up to 10 seizures a day = completely debilitating. Had the medial temporal structures of his brain removed by scoville never been done before, high risk. Temporal lobes biggest location of epileptic seizure origins. In terms of seizures, surgery was huge success = no more seizures for the rest of life. Had some retrograde amnesia for about a year (from age 25-27 couldn"t remember autographic information and etc. ) Then, he had profound anterograde amnesia = couldn"t lay down any new memories remained this way for the rest of his life = didn"t learn any new things of the world in terms of episodic memory. Learned every new day like the same day always lived in the present. Became fairly large didn"t remember eating recently. Book on neuroscience and life of henry molaison. Huge capacity but don"t hang on to it for long.
