Just because i have power doesn"t mean that i will use it. Power does not imply a poor relationship between the power holder and the target of power: multi-directional. Power can flow in any direction in any organization: all levels. Power applies to both individuals and groups. Not enough to go around; if you don"t have a resource and someone else does then they have power over you: uncertainty. Not having all the information: centrality. People you have to pass through to get things done (if you"re in that position then you have more power: substitutability. If you have the option to choose other people or other resources you have more power compared to if you don"t; choices lead to power.
