Strategies help you become part of the environment of the competition. Resources influence management preferences by looking at how much they have and making a decision on how to spend. Strategy influences management preferences by creating a bias within management through commitment. Influences capabilities of the organization because they decide what capabilities to develop. Culture: what work we"re willing to execute. Structure: how to divide the organization; geographically, customers, employees. Unspoken rules and values of the organization. Some cultures are more likely to take risks; others are more risk averse. We tend to pursue strategies that involve something we"re good at; capabilities drive strategy. Strategy determines which aspects of the organization need improvement.
