This week: start with art matisse and colour. 2: studio lab this week and next, colour theory definitions and terms. Annual juried exhibition, need to install until wednesday at 4 pm! Need to buy painting materials: colour theory versus colour reality. In real life it is different for theory. Colour the visual response to different wave lengths of sunlight identified as red, green, blue and so only having the physical properties of hue, intensity and value. Light and all the colours together are additives. We work subtractive for paint what we use when we mix colour or look at colour it is the reflected light which hits our retina. No object has inherent colour because it is dependent on light. Hue is the name of the colour. Value is the relative degree of lightness or darkness of a hue. Adding white is a tint, adding gray is a tone, adding black is a shade.
