Control variables are in time before or at the same time as the focal variables. Intervening variables are in the middle of the path between focal independent and dependent. Why does gender determine labour market experience. Slide 8 and 9 just another example of the same thing. B) there is still a relationship but it is a bit weaker. If c and c prime are different then there is mediation.
