We left off talking about obesity and these objective measures to determine these measures and more importantly what the impact of these measures is. So for example in insurance people are being flagged, these labels and definitions impact our interactions and lives. Weird balance where not allowed be too overweight, and not allowed to be too thin either. Textbook talks about how women have a much smaller window which is acceptable. She would argue that for men its better that they are on the overweight size rather than underweight. Shillings work and the conscious ways we adapt our body to suit the ways people are telling us how we need to be. Shillings with his research looked at our adaptations: some things we discuss in class were working out, eating right, different versions of body modification surgeries. Talked about what is means to look professionally.
