The road system allowed for widespread economic activity through the exchange of goods and information. Shops promoted their goods/services on trade signs, which were painted wooden boards; also displayed as frescoes, mosaics. Advertisements for election campaigns and gladiatorial games were also apparent. It is clear that promotion was a key part of everyday life.
