Work can both add to our health and wellbeing and detract from it. Job satisfaction : is a summary measure of workers attitudes of overall acceptance, contentment and enjoyment in their jobs, all in all, how satis ed are you with your job? . Most workers say very" or somewhat" satis ed 81% Yet, about half would also switch jobs if given opportunity, and expect to leave jobs soon. What does job satisfaction mean: satisfying jobs provide intrinsic rewards (decision-making opportunities, challenging non repetitive work and autonomy, and extrinsic rewards (good wages, bene ts, employment security, and opportunities for advancement) Many people look beyond nancial considerations when evaluating employment and want a job that is interesting and challenging: social interaction: job permits social interaction people like who they work with. A good wage: opportunities for advancement, few opportunities > frustration, dissatisfaction. Broader and diverse jobs may counter frustration with little advancement.
