Document Summary

An apc presents an antigen to cd4+ t cell: t cell replication increases the chances of encountering b cell with the same antigen. Interaction between cells depends in t cell recognizing b cell antigen. Large role in clearing the body of antigens: memory b cells, circulate through lymphatic system. Quick and greater immune response on second encounter with pathogen. Clearing the body of antigens with antibodies: may directly bind and neutralize toxin (bacterial protein, antiboy shape leads to agglutination, different antibodies produced, each specific to an antigen, many different antigens on a pathogen. Antibodies also aid with innate immune response: stimulates complement system, membrane attack complexes. Bacteria, virus membrane: enhance phagocytosis, macrophage, neutrophils. Can engulf bacteria which are bound by antibodies: occurs for multiple antigens on any given pathogen. Primary vs secondary immune response: secondary response quicker and greater. Some t-cells will become cytotoxic t-cells: cell mediated immunity, any cell which becomes infected apc.
