Marijuana (thc: thc binds to natural cannabinoid receptors (anandamide, stimulates release of dopamine by blocking the gaba modulator, gives you a euphoric feeling because of the dopamine. Alcohol: binds with receptors for acetyl choline, serotonin and gaba, gaba prolongs opening of cl- channels, reducing the activity in the post synaptic membrane. Cocaine: stimulates release of dopamine, but also prevents the re-uptake of dopamine, dopamine is being kept in, giving you the euphoric feeling, very easy to get addicted to crack because you keep dumping in dopamine.
