Its given to you e. g. antibodies such as gamma globulun ** Its temp though so needs to be replaced. Different mechanism are used for extracellular and intracellular pathogens. Small proteins secreted by activated nucleated cells. An actiavtedd cell releases many cytokines at the same time. They are messengers how cells communicate with eachother: they bind to a cytokine receptor that is expressed by cells and this is how they signal or tel the cell how to behave. They activate or suppress most cell behaviours: cell proliferation, growth, maturation, survival.
