Document Summary

Memory is not just part of the temporal lobe, working memory is also apart of the frontal lobe. Brainstem is divided into 3 sections (midbrain, pons, medulla) and is associated with basic autonomic functions. *thalamus is the relay centre, just above the midbrain, relays motor and sensory information to the cortex. *hypothalamus is involved in releasing hormones to assist in involuntary function the link between the nervous and endocrine system (ie. regulates body temp, thirst) Cerebellum is involved in voluntary movements (motor coordination, precision, accuracy not necessarily the movement itself) Amygala is involved in emotion responses and processing. Hippocampus is divided into several layers and is involved in consolidating short term memory to long term memory. Sagittal (sides) can usually see the corpus callosum. Meninges: protective layers around the brain (duramater, arachnoid, pia) Cerebral spinal uid can be located between the arachnoid and pia mater. Cerebral spinal uid helps with shock absorption and blood ow.
