Kinesiology 2222A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Ischium, Rotator Cuff, Synovial Fluid

37 views9 pages

Document Summary

It"s synovial because it has a capsule that contains synovial fluid. If you were to position a ligament you would put it in the center of the acetabulum and then attach it to the middle of the head of the femur. Instead it attaches inferiorly directly to the capsule (not bone to bone) Fovea capitis to dense connective tissue of the capsule. Inside this ligament there"s an artery called the artery to the head of the femur. So not a stabilizing role but rather a protective role for the artery. We have 3 suppurative structures, ilial, ischial, femoral ligaments. When in the standing position these ligaments are twisted when sitting they"re not. Corkscrewing nature of the ligaments drive the head of the femur into the acetabulum- which enhances the structure of the joint. Makes the hip joint very hard to dislocate while standing.
