Kinesiology 2222A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Posterior Ramus Of Spinal Nerve, Iliocostalis, Longissimus
Document Summary
November 1st lecture - the muscular system: muscles of the trunk. He will always talk about attatchments, wont go into extreme detail on origin and insertion. Involved in movement and stability of the spine: called the erector spinae (keep you erect, and are close to the spine) Iliocostalis: runs from the ilium all the way to the costals, fans out across the ribs. Spinalis: ilium all the way up the spine. Acronym to remember: i like standing muscles: they are the true back muscles, the ones that are completely dedicated to the back - keep the trunk extended. Maintain posture, balance, and keep vertebrae in line: we are constantly moving, so these muscles are constantly active. Different innervation than other muscles: spinal nerve comes off anteriorly and goes to the muscle normally, in the case of deep back muscle, they are innervated through the dorsal side. When the ventral and dorsal horns come together, they form rami.
