Laws provide rules of conduct for citizens to abide by as a trade off for living in a society. The law is also a tool for carrying out social policies. The country is under english common law, the quebec follows civil law. Judicial branch of government must interpret and apply the law and the constitution, and give impartial judgements in all cases (public or private law)
