Lecture 1 numbers, words, and measures: decimal numerals. A body temperature of 38 c is a fever yet 94 f indicates hypothermia. Rational numbers begin to repeat a pattern of #"s or ends after a finite number (i. e. 1. 25) Natural numbers, whole numbers, and integers are used to count things. Real, rational, and irrational numbers are used to measure things. There are three different types of numerals: The use of a numeral does not necessarily mean that it is a number (i. e. course code numeral) The meaning of a score is dependent upon it"s context. A single indicator instrument results in us looking for one indicator to determine the score. Many constructs have multiple facets that require multiple indicators to represent constructs. Multiple indicators can also be used to represent varying levels of difficulty. Factor loadings indicate how strongly associated the indicator is w/ the concept that you are setting out to measure.
