Globalizaion goes against the labour union movement. Unions originated in 1800s, and were designed to keep the highly skilled workers protected against the changing economy. Society has an idea of individualism, so culturally, people are not in favour of unions. Individuals in a union relect their image of of the people above them in the hierarchy. First unions were high class workers, which kept out low skilled people. Then industrialized unions form, which protect the less skilled workers. By the end of 2nd world war, unions became legal and much more popular. It was the rise of public sector unions. They start to take over the private sector unions. Women becoming unionized due to public sector unions involving teacher in 60s. Unions today are closely related to the public/social sector, private sector unions are declining in power. Globalizaion is the major cause of the decline of the private sector unions.
