1. Explain how the interaction between the Eurasian plate and the Pacific plate led to the
earthquake. For how long does this type of interaction occur before a major earthquake
happens?
Japan lives on the point between the Pacific and Eurasian plate. As the pacific goes
underneath, the stress builds and the plate snaps, causing an earthquake. The S waves hit
the Fukishima and the shake the ground from side to side. Upward motion causes an
immense wave.
For centuries the plate was bending until it snaps back up and out and creates massive
waves
Interaction led to earthquake b/c slow motion collision of tectonic plates
Immense pressure builds up and breaks, causing an earthquake pacific plate moving towards
Eurasian plate, 100 seconds since slip, waves hit Tokyo
Interaction occurs for 100 seconds before major earthquake happens

Video: japan tsunami: explain how the interaction between the eurasian plate and the pacific plate led to the earthquake. Japan lives on the point between the pacific and eurasian plate. As the pacific goes underneath, the stress builds and the plate snaps, causing an earthquake. The s waves hit the fukishima and the shake the ground from side to side. For centuries the plate was bending until it snaps back up and out and creates massive waves. Interaction led to earthquake b/c slow motion collision of tectonic plates. Immense pressure builds up and breaks, causing an earthquake pacific plate moving towards. Eurasian plate, 100 seconds since slip, waves hit tokyo. There is nothing stopping the wave from moving in, not until it hits something such as high ground. S-waves hit town, violently shake ground from side to side. Eurasian plate being dragged down by pacific plate & snaps to create large dome like waves.
