Narrator provides addiional informaion: narrated by ron howard (actor on happy days) Riing on the history of the sitcom (happy days) No laugh track: less pausing, conversaion is more rapid ire, more organic, comedy comes from the quirkiness of the characters. Typical sitcom shows a brief problem in the family unit that is eventually solved by the closeness of the family unit. Arrested development is unconvenional: the family unit doesn"t solve problems, the family itself is a problem by being so dysfuncional. In the end the corn-baller reunites the family. It mocks the inimacy of the typical sitcom by zooming out and revealing that the mother/son conversaion was actually taking place in front of a full boardroom of people. I was lying but just a litle too close to the sun ironic because the son is too close to his mother.
