Virgil recounts the battle of troy, and juno(hera)"s anger. Juno persuades aeolus the wind god, to send a hurricane to destroy aeneas" ship, but neptune calms the waters. Aeneas finds shelter in a cave with his ship and the 7 others that survived the war and the storms. Venus(aphrodite) aks zeus why he went back on his word to have aeneas live on peacefully and have glory. Jupiter(zeus) explains that he hasn"t gone back on his word, that thins are simply still in motion. Aeneas decides to go out and search the land for tiling, beasts, men, etc . Venus comes riding on a horse, to ask aeneas what he is doing. Aeneus doesn"t know it is his mother, and he asks what land they are in. Aeneas explains his story, saying that he was from troy and had 20 ships but now only 7. Venus explains that the other ships are not destroyed, but delayed from the winds.
